Torq M23 X-Lite Channel Islands Surfboard Marine Blue
The first release from the brand-new partnership between Torq and Channel Islands Surfboards is here: the M23, crafted in Torq’s premium X-Lite Epoxy construction. Already a favorite in the CI lineup, the M23 now comes in a lighter, stronger, and more eco-friendly build that adds serious value without losing performance.
The Shape
Designed by Britt Merrick, the M23 sits firmly in the performance hybrid category, offering the perfect balance of paddle power, forgiveness, and precision.
-
A streamlined nose feeds into medium-to-full rails, giving both control and margin for error.
-
The round tail locks in hold when things get steep, with sharper edges in the final third for extra release and drive.
-
With foam carried through the center, this board paddles fast and catches waves easily, making conditions from 2ft to 6ft feel effortless.
Where It Works
Beach breaks, points, reefs, wave pools—the M23 adapts to almost any setup. Expect to out-paddle mid-length riders and still surf with the performance of a shortboard.
How It Rides
-
Rocker: A mellow entry ensures easy take-offs and solid glide, while the tail rocker is moderate enough to stay responsive without being twitchy.
-
Outline & Rails: Extra surface area equals speed and lift, while the lower-apex rails provide bite and control even in softer waves.
-
Fin Setup: Designed as a thruster, the M23 is at its best with AM template fins, giving it the drive and balance it deserves.
This design suits surfers stepping down from larger boards who want progression, as well as experienced riders chasing higher wave counts with a smoother style.
The X-Lite Difference
Torq’s X-Lite Epoxy construction was created specifically for high-performance models. It’s lighter, tougher, and more sustainable than traditional PU boards, now featuring:
-
50% thinner Shield Skin to shave off weight.
-
A wood composite layer between biaxial decks—massive ding resistance without losing flex.
-
A refined flex pattern that handles chop smoothly and avoids the stiffness common in cheaper epoxy boards.
The result is a board that feels alive under your feet: durable, lightweight, eco-conscious, and high performing.
Why You’ll Love It
The Torq × CI M23 in X-Lite is more than just a collaboration—it’s a surfboard that delivers next-level performance, versatility, and strength at great value. Fast to paddle, forgiving when you need it, and responsive when it counts, this board will become the go-to in your quiver.
